Looking for some farmyard fun? Maleny Dairies on the Sunshine Coast is a treat for the whole tribe.
There are two ways to explore Maleny Dairy, a tour ($11 per person) and a tractor ride ($10 per person) that run at scheduled times throughout the day, both of which can be booked in advance so you don’t miss out. The farm tour takes you through every aspect of the dairy from milking the cows to bottling the milk and everything in between.
The tour lasts for about one hour and is very hands on. Arthur had a ball patting baby cows and sheep and even got a chance to taste fresh milk straight from the cow! You’ll leave knowing more than you ever though possible about the milk making process. The tour ends with a taste test of the incredible Maleny Dairy milks, yoghurt and custard which will not disappoint.
Our main goal when we set out for Maleny was a tractor ride. Arthur has been talking non stop about going on a tractor ride for weeks and this experience did not disappoint. The ride lasts for about 30 minutes and gives you a chance to explore more of the property. You’ll get to see some stunning scenery and as you travel to a paddock of goats, emus and calves waiting eagerly for you to feed them.
There is a small kiosk where you can grab a coffee or a snack before your tour. Head to the kiosk before you head home to stock up on Maleny Dairy products! I highly recommend the strawberry yoghurt and the cream. If you want to bring a picnic along, which we did, there is a lovely grassy area with tables and a tractor for the kids to play on. We went during school holidays so booking was essential. In all we spent about 3 hours at the dairy which was enough to do everything on offer. There is plenty of parking available.
