There is a new NUBO in town! If you’re familiar with NUBO in Alexandria and thinking about heading to the new Chatswood centre, Sally and her tribe checked it out and have all the info you need.
Most of us are now familiar with the cool calm colours of Nubo in Alexandria, a play centre for kids that focuses on creative, imagination play, rather than the bright rainbow of ball pits, slides and screams. Don’t get me wrong those kinds of play centres are still a fab place to entertain your little one but I’m in love with Nubo and more importantly so is my three year old daughter.
I don’t know if it’s because she’s more on the quiet reserved side (when in crowds, because this is NOT the case at home!) but she really gets into it at Nubo. And their new branch in Chatswood Chase is AWESOME. It reminds me of the play centres you find in Japan, very clean, peaceful and shoes off! That means grown ups too, even in the café!
But heads up grown ups, Nubo Chatswood is a different set up to Nubo Alexandria.
Yes it’s still just as amazing and the theme is the same. But the centre’s purpose is to hold children’s workshops rather than just free play. So your first visit can be casual but then you need to sign up for a membership that suits you.
Don’t be discouraged by this, definitely go for a one off to get the gist. It’s just like signing your tot-up for Tiny Tutus, Gymbaroo or Bonjour Baby. But what’s great, is if bub is finding ‘merci beaucoup’ hard to pronounce then you can move onto a different subject all together! One week try music class the next art and craft, plus there’s even plans for robotics workshops. Your kid will probably be coding before they can say Elon Musk!
On our visit we enjoyed free play, surveyed every room, in out, in out, my little Miss loved it! There’s a super cool tree house library filled with books that you can exit via a giant slide! My daughter particularly liked the play kitchen and café, where she served up many healthy treats. There’s also a train set, cars to ride and lots of toys scattered all around a shared play space. Not to mention a huge magnetic wall where mini engineers can master mazes!
The rooms where the workshops are held are open at various times throughout the day for general play. You’ll find another room full of those cool Magnetics things. An art and craft room for future Picassos! A cool toddler disco room with changing lights, resembling a mini Vivid!
Another highlight was the sensory room. Here kids can play scientist and look at insects under microscopes, projected onto the wall! It’s very high tech! They can also experiment with water play, squirting water out of test tubes and squishy clouds.
Central to all the fun is the cafe with top notch coffee and healthy snacks. From here you can watch your little ones play safely behind the gate while you have a time out, of the good kind!
And just when you thought NUBO had it all… later in the year there are plans to offer child minding!! So get ready for that long awaited shopping spree, lunch with friends or even just that solo trip to the bathroom! Nubo- it’s perfect for kids and grown ups!
