If you are looking for a playgroup, the kids will love this sensory play class run by Messy Little Mates. Let them get dirty while they explore and learn through messy play.
Benefits of sensory play
Messy play is great for the development of young minds, encouraging children to use their senses and make nerve connections in the brain’s pathways – leading them to complete more complex learning, growth, language development, gross motor skills, social skills and more. There are different types of ‘mess’ the kids can play with, so if they aren’t keen on one activity, there is sure to be another that appeals to their senses.
Messy play is all about independent play so kids are free to roam and explore the different mess stations as they please. Messy play can foster imagination, creation and curiosity and the best part – you don’t have to clean up the mess at the end of a session! That’s all taken care of.
What is Messy Little Mates about?
Messy Little Mates is a weekly playgroup that runs for 45 minutes. Each week there are themed sensory setups with a variety of textures, props and ingredients to play with. The stations include small world play, painting, water play, foam, sand, slime and even edible mud.
Whilst Messy Little Mates endeavour to make activities that don’t stain clothing – it’s still advisable to wear play clothes that you don’t mind getting the odd colouring on. It’s also advised to bring a change of clothes in case the kids have a really good time and get a little messier than their mates.
The details
There are two weekly playgroups that run including a Tuesday playgroup in Carnes Hill, and a Thursday playgroup in Oatley. There are single sessions of Messy Little Mates available to book into, or you can book for the term and let the kids get messy with their friends every week. Bookings are essential to ensure there is enough mess for everyone that attends to get their hands on.
