If you’re looking for a playground that has everything the kids could possibly want, plus a rocket ship slide, then you need to check out Memorial Park in Blackheath.
What’s at Memorial Park
Memorial Park in Blackheath has three separate playgrounds, each with its own charms. There is a space filled with Heritage Playground Equipment. A Blue Mountains artist built the metal structures for the kids to climb on. They have been updated since the park first opened but the original sentiment is still there. Simple climbing frames made from metal. And the tribe loved them!
There is also a smaller playground up the hill with a small slide, a climbing wall, suspension bridge, a wobbly octopus ride on and a tunnel. This play area is perfect for littler tribe members.
Then there’s the main play area. This has swings, monkey bars, a small tunnel and small slide, as well as climbing structures, a fireman’s pole, bridges, a tall curly slide, flying fox, balancing beams and of course – the rocket ship!
Tell us more about the rocket ship
The rocket ship is the biggest metal climbing frame in the park and is a beautiful vibrant red! Kids can enter by climbing up a small ladder into the rocket ship and then navigate upwards through the multi-level structure. There is a steering wheel at the top and then when they’re ready to exit, the coolest slide is the quickest way to the bottom.
What else is there to do
There is a duck pond just beyond the play equipment and tonnes of room for a picnic with sprawling grounds as far as the eye can see. In summer, Blackheath pool is right next door.
