Jimmy Giggle and his pals Hoot and Hootabelle are going global with a new YouTube channel for the tribe! Jimmy Giggle called our tribe to tell us all about their newest venture.
So there’s only 5 more days until Christmas. What have you asked Hootaclaus for?
Of course I need some improvements to my magic button so I need a few more tools to fix that up and second would be some food. Hoot’s always getting owl snacks so I thought I sould have some food too – banana milkshakes are my favourite!
What are Hoot and Hootabelle hoping to see under the tree this year?
They’re pretty predictable – all they want is owl snacks, owl snacks, owl snacks, play hootball and then they come back and eat owl snacks. And then it’s rinse and repeat.
We are so excited about your new YouTube channel! We’re going to New Zealand soon and now we can watch you when we’re overseas! Are you excited that kids all over the world can watch you now?
Yes I think that we’ve always wanted for Giggle and Hoot to reach as many people as possible. We have a wonderful team at the ABC and it’s great to have a global platform like YouTube where you can put the show out there and then anyone who wants to watch it can no matter where they are. It’s hootastic!
What’s your favourite video on your channel that everyone should tune into?
I love the new Christmas song that we’ve done called Hootaclaus is on His Way. That’s definitely a lot of fun. The guy who writes a lot of the songs we sing is just so talented. It was really fun to make and a really funny song.
Why should kids subscribe to your channel? Will there be any bonus content on there that’s exclusive to YouTube?
We launch new videos every Monday and Friday – a lot is from the show and you can watch it over and over again. The nature of kids is they love repetition so they can watch it as much as they like. We have some stuff that hits YouTube before it goes on air because of the immediacy of YouTube. Also the great thing about our new channel is that old favourites like The Funky Owl can be rewatched because it won’t be on air again. It’s a really great thing the ABC has done here and we look forward to it reaching a lot of people.
Another good thing about YouTube is you can create a playlist and play your favourites back to back. So if you want to do all of your favourite Christmas content in a play list you can watch it like that.
What is your favourite Christmas activity?
I love decorating the Christmas tree but what we like most is playing Christmas hoot and seek. Instead of just hiding you jingle bells and the seeker has to find you. It’s a great game to play at Christmas.
