The newly opened Howard Park in Gregory Hills in a winner for kids of all ages. Totally worth a day trip for Sydney tribes.
What’s there?
This gigantic playground totally spoils you for choice. You never have to wait long to get a turn on something because there is so much to do – even when the park is crawling with kids, there was enough space to play for hours. But be sure to keep a close eye on the kids because this park gets packed and there is tonnes of space.
- Swings including web swing
- Swinging ropes
- Roundabout
- Sports zone with basketball rings, table tennis tables and soccer shootout
- Giant climbing net
- Gated toddler area with sandpit, diggers, toddler slide and ride ons
- Three slides with soft fall climbing walls
Where is it?
Howard Park is in the Gregory Hills estate right next to the Gregory Hills shopping centre. The playground can be seen from Gregory Hills Drive, in fact you can’t miss it so don’t panic if you can’t find a street address for it. Just drive down Gregory Hills Drive until you see either the shopping centre or the iconic yellow structure.
Other things we loved
There is plenty of parking in the shopping centre car park, and access to the park is via a walking path and a bridge. The entire park is fenced in away from the busy road and there is a fully gated toddler area for little ones to play under shade sails and away from the bigger kids. There are toilets in the shopping complex. There is plenty of seating around the perimeter of the park too for parents to sit and relax.
What to bring
You can bring scooters if you like but the kids will be so busy, they might only get used on the way in and out of the playground. Bring a basketball, netball or soccer ball down to enjoy the sporting zone. And tell the kids to wear comfy climbing clothes and shoes.
