Sydney
Swamp Monsters and Garden Monsters at Botanic Gardens
Swamp Monsters at Centennial Park will be taken over with spooky trick or treat activity stations where kids can follow a map, complete challenges and collect a prize at the end. The course takes around 30-45 minutes to complete and kids can come dressed in their Halloween costumes. This event takes place on Saturday, October 27 at various times. Or head to Garden Monsters on Sunday, October 28 and grab your Halloween trail map to complete exciting and mysterious tricks to receive delicious treats. After you’ve finished the trick or treat trail, head to the Calyx to see the free event, Plants that Bite!
The Garden of Terror at The Grounds
Calling all ghouls and boys! This event is made for the little monsters of your tribe. Dress up in Halloween costumes and Trick or Treat your way through the Garden of Terror. There are interactive installations, prizes for best dressed, a monster mash dance floor and spooky treats for dinner.
Halloscream at Luna Park
Want to do something a little big scary and a lot of fun for Halloweeen? Luna Park presents Halloscream: The Rise of the Cursed Carnival. Go for a ride on all the spooky rides and be sure to keep an eye out for the Maniac at the Toy Shop of Terrors. Halloscream runs on five nights starting at 7pm and finishing at midnight, but on Halloween it starts at 6pm.
Halloween Disco at Wannabes
Dress the kids up in their favourite costume on Saturday, October 27 and head to Wannabes for their annual Halloween Disco. The stage will be lit up with laser lights and the disco tunes will be pumping. Plus kids can go and tour the TV studio, Fire Station, Restaurant and more for some fun role play! Tickets are $15 and there is food available at the cafe.
Melbourne
Luna Dark at Luna Park
Luna Dark is a lot of spooky fun for tribes with older kids, but beware, a lot of spooks are lurking in the dark ready to frighten you! If this sounds a bit too freaky for the kids, Luna Park also has lots of fun day time Halloween activities planned for the younger ones.
If you do dare to enter the park at night, there will be living dead roaming through the park. If you want a ghoulish makeover of your own, professional artists will be there to give you a wicked makeover.
Halloween at Old Melbourne Gaol
Old Melbourne Gaol will open its doors on Halloween this year to those who dare to explore the gaol at night. Renowned for housing some of Australia’s most notorious criminals including Ned Kelly, the Old Melbourne Gaol will let visitors come and see what it would have been like behind bars in the dead of the night. Some visitors believe they have had ghostly experiences at Old Melbourne Gaol, and with it’s gruesome history of 133 hangings, perhaps Halloween will be the night that your tribe will have an eerie encounter of their very own! Tickets for a family of 4 cost $40 for this spooky event.
Howl-O-Ween Paw Parade at Port Melbourne
Does your pooch love to do tricks? How about getting treats? The Howl-O-Ween Paw Parade will see hundreds of dogs in costume embarking on Rouse St, Port Melbourne for the biggest Halloween doggie parade in Melbourne! Plus there will be a free trick or treat trail for the kids as well as a haunted jumping castle. All proceeds from this pawsome event go to Guide Dogs Victoria.
Yarra Valley Ghost Train
This year there will be two spooky train rides happening across the weekend with the Ghost Train departing hourly from 8pm – midnight. Do you dare to walk through the haunted carriage? If you have smaller kids, you might prefer a ride on The Little Train of Spooks which takes you through dark and creepy tunnels where you need to keep an eye out for ghosts! The Little Train of Spooks has best dressed costume prizes as well as Halloween activities suitable for pre school and up.
Brisbane
Halloween Street Party at Manly Harbour Village
Sunday October 28, there is a street party happening in Manly where you will see ghosts, ghouls, fairies and superheroes roaming the streets in celebration of Halloween. This event starts at 11am and finishes with fireworks at 9pm. The tribe will love the street parade at dusk, there is entertainment from lunch time and there will be over 100 market stalls and rides as well as a free movie – Hotel Transylvania in the park from 7pm.
Gold Coast
Fest-Evil at Surfers Paradise
This new event is set to take over Surfers Paradise from October 26-28. There are lots of fun festivities to get your tribe in the Halloween spirit including Halloween markets along the beach, the Surfers Paradise Zombie Walk which is a ticketed event, costume character competitions for the kids in the Cavill Mall, a Spooky Movie Night, a Boo-lieve it or Not! Ripley’s special event and Halloween dress ups and tricks and treats on the famous Aquaduck.
